The 26th edition of the World Travel Awards took place Madeira Island, Portugal last June. The selection of the nominees is done on a global scale by the public and more than 200 thousand professionals from the tourism sector in 163 countries.

Wellness in MICE has stopped being a spa afternoon bolted onto an agenda. For leadership and incentive groups, it's now the design principle and few places in Spain make the case as naturally as Ourense and the Ribeira Sacra. Accessible by high-speed rail (AVE) from Madrid in roughly 2h15, and just over an hour from Vigo airport (VGO) by road, the region proves that authenticity and accessibility are not a trade-off.
The original program was a straightforward 3-day Costa del Sol incentive for 22 guests from a Dutch renewables energy company: arrival from Amsterdam, buggies and quads on day one with a dinner show at Mamzel Marbella, water sports and lunch at Trocadero Arena on day two rounded off with dinner at Mosh Fun Kitchen, and a final morning of shopping in Puerto Banús before the flight home. High pace, activity paired with gastronomy and show, a clean departure.
Some venues do more than host an event. They tell a story. For a group of 40 guests, Palácio Marquês da Fronteira offered the opportunity to experience Lisbon through one of its most remarkable historic settings, where centuries of Portuguese heritage meet the elegance of a private dinner.
